Dresser

This was purchased from my local Habitat Re-Store for $50.  It is the perfect size for my master bedroom, and I love the lines and curvature of it.

It looks like at one point it was white and someone attempted to distress it, or maybe just rub black paint all over it?!?!

Notice the the nice flowers....

So my first step was to sand it, which wasn't as easy as it sounds because of its curves.  I then primed it with 2 layers of primer.

I used this Bulls Eyes Primer.  It worked really well, but you have to allow it to set up for 7 days before you can paint it.  Good thing I don't have that much extra time on my hands!

So I looked at these samples for about a week, and Riley made the final decision...

and here is the finished product....

Chair Redo

So my second purchase from Craigs List was a set of black wooden chairs with detached seats.  I bought them both for $10.  I bought a few cans of spray paint and a yard of fabric.

Here is the before......

And here is the after.....

I added my DIY monogrammed pillow to one of the chairs....

And here they sit in all their beauty!

Dining Room Chair Mismatch!

I have inherited these chairs one by one over the past several years.  Historically I have just picked up some fabric remnants and stapled it over what was originally on the chairs.  So now that I have 3 chairs and they all have different fabric it is time for a change.

I'm really sad that I failed to take a pic of the trio prior to stripping them down.  They all had different fabric, 2 were striped (but different pattern and colors) and one was floral.

I decided to strip them down to their bones to make sure they were in good condition and loose all the layers of fabric.  I found some fabric that had the browns, blues and greens that are in my dining room on clearance from JoAnn's Fabrics.

The Result:

I also have been attempting to teach myself how to sew.  I did make this one pillow, yes button and all.  However I have not had the patience to make the others!  Still practicing, hoping to get it one day!

My First Craigslist Purchase!

So this is the first Craigs List Purchase! I purchased it for $60 from a very sweet family.  I cannot believe that Craigslist has been around this long and I had not discovered it!  I am not sure if this is a good thing or bad thing now that I am addicted!

This is how it looked in my living room......NOT really what I wanted!

So I found some really great fabric that has ALL of my colors in it.  It was 50% off at Hancock fabrics, of course I bought it up!!  It ended up only being about $7/yard.  An added benefit is that it is indoor/outdoor fabric which will make cleanups a little easier....hopefully!

And here it is!! All recovered in it's magnificant striped beauty!
